Not that I'm at all taking credit for this, but OpenPBX.org has forked the Asterisk code. According to them, the main reason was that they weren't able to get the changes they needed into the mainline of Asterisk. I think there's another reason too - the dual source licensing issue. Either way, asterisk now has an evil twin. I mean OpenPBX.org has an evil twin. Whatever.
